- Resource Recovery Projects and Education Officer
Description
If you’re passionate about sustainability and love getting out into the community, this is your chance to make a real, visible difference across Townsville. In this role, you’ll be right at the centre of Council’s push toward zero waste to landfill, by designing and delivering practical, engaging education programs that help people change the way they think about waste, recycling and resource recovery.
You’ll work across schools, community groups, events, businesses and Council facilities by running tours, presentations and campaigns, coordinating initiatives like bin health checks and National Recycling Week, and supporting projects such as Food Organics and Garden Organics trials. From creating digital content and responding to community questions, to working directly with internal council teams and external partners, this role blends ontheground delivery with smart planning, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
If you enjoy juggling projects, communicating complex ideas in simple ways, and seeing the impact of your work in everyday behaviours, this role offers variety, purpose and the opportunity to help shape a more circular future for Townsville.
