Tropical Waste is a growing waste management and resource recovery business committed to delivering reliable, environmentally responsible services to our customers. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to lead our daily operations and help drive the continued success of our business.

As Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our waste collection, transport, and resource recovery activities. You will lead a team of operators and drivers, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

• Manage and coordinate daily operational activities across the business.

• Lead, supervise, and support drivers, operators, and site staff.

• Plan and allocate resources, vehicles, equipment, and personnel to maximise productivity.

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, environmental, and company policies.

• Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

• Manage maintenance schedules for plant, machinery, and fleet.

• Work closely with customers to ensure high levels of service and resolve operational issues.

• Assist with budgeting, cost control, and operational reporting.

• Recruit, train, and mentor team members to build a positive and productive workplace culture.

• Ensure all operations meet relevant regulatory and environmental requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Proven experience in an operations management or supervisory role.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience managing fleets, heavy equipment, or industrial operations is highly regarded.

• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Power Apps and operational management systems.

• A current driver's licence.

Experience in the waste management, transport, civil construction, quarrying, or resource recovery industries will be highly regarded but is not essential.
