- Lead Process Design Engineer (Wastewater) - Leading Plant Technology
Description
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Design Engineer to take ownership of end-to-end wastewater treatment plant design within a growing engineering business delivering major infrastructure projects across Australia.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on, senior technical leadership role suited to someone who can independently develop complete process designs, not just specify equipment, while working alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex treatment plants from concept through to commissioning.
You’ll play a critical role in contributing to innovative, energy- and footprint-efficient treatment solutions that are at the forefront of the industry.
Your role
- Lead the full lifecycle process design of wastewater treatment plants (concept → detailed design → delivery).
- Develop plant-wide process solutions, including sizing, mass balances, and performance criteria.
- Collaborate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and SCADA teams to integrate designs into complete plant solutions.
- Define technical requirements and specifications for downstream disciplines.
- Support client engagement throughout the project lifecycle (clarifications, technical discussions, requirements alignment).
- Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and commissioning activities.
- Ensure designs are buildable, efficient, and aligned to operational performance objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in treatment technologies.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers where required.
You
- Extensive experience in process design for wastewater treatment plants (not limited to equipment/vendor selection).
- Proven ability to design entire treatment plants independently.
- Strong understanding of biological, physical, and chemical treatment processes.
- Experience working on Tier 1 / Tier 2 infrastructure or large-scale municipal/industrial projects.
- Demonstrated capability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Comfortable working directly with clients on technical matters.
- Hands-on, delivery-focused mindset — not purely conceptual or advisory.
The Opportunity
Your role will be working on cutting-edge wastewater technologies delivering significant energy and footprint efficiencies. You will be part of a growing project pipeline with major infrastructure exposure and you will get the opportunity to own and deliver real, buildable projects end-to-end.
Flexible working arrangements with strong technical team collaboration.
The successfull candidate will receive a base salary of $175K - $200K + Super + Benefits + More!
