Fleet Manager - Willawong | Waste & Environmental Services
About the Role
701 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to join a well-established business operating within the waste management and environmental services industry, based in Willawong.
This is a hands-on operational role responsible for overseeing a fleet of 25+ vehicles and approximately 25 drivers, ensuring daily operations run safely, efficiently and on schedule.
You will take ownership of the day-to-day management of the fleet and driver team, working closely with operations, maintenance and other internal stakeholders to maximise fleet availability, maintain compliance and ensure a high standard of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of a fleet of 25+ vehicles and drivers
• Manage, support and coordinate drivers to ensure daily service requirements are achieved
• Monitor vehicle availability, utilisation and overall fleet performance
• Coordinate preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs to minimise vehicle downtime
• Liaise with workshops, mechanics, suppliers and external service providers
• Ensure vehicles remain compliant, roadworthy and fit for purpose
• Monitor driver performance, fatigue, safety and compliance requirements
• Assist with driver rostering, leave coverage and operational requirements
• Respond to breakdowns, vehicle issues and unexpected operational changes
• Maintain accurate fleet, servicing, maintenance and compliance records
• Monitor fleet costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditure
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions where required
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer service requirements are consistently met
• Drive a strong culture of safety, accountability and communication across the driver team

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience in Fleet Management, Transport Management or Transport Operations
• Experience managing both vehicles and drivers within a busy operational environment
• Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance, servicing and compliance requirements
• Experience within waste management, transport, logistics, environmental services or a similar industry highly regarded
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Sound understanding of driver safety, fatigue management and transport compliance
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make quick operational decisions
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Good computer literacy and experience maintaining fleet records and reporting
• A practical, hands-on approach to managing day-to-day fleet operations

Mandatory Requirements:

• Current National Police Check (or must be willing to obtain)
• COVID Vaccination x2
