Salary range: $37.12 per hour (overtime provisions apply)
About the role
The position supports the delivery of the City of Hobart’s Waste Management Strategy 2015-2030 by working daily to support and ensure safe, efficient and cost effective waste management
practices are delivered.
Role accountabilities include:
- Deliver safe and efficient landfill and transfer station operations, including organic recycling and resource recovery activities.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment in line with manuals, procedures and standing instructions.
- Provide clear guidance to the public on waste disposal, recycling and resource recovery practices.
- Manage site traffic and inspect incoming vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain a clean, compliant site while following all safety procedures, and support broader team operations including rostered weekend work.

About you
You hold a Certificate III in Waste Management (CPP30719) or the ability to acquire, along with a current Heavy Rigid Driver Licence, White Card and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
You are a capable and safety-focused operator with demonstrated experience operating small to medium plant, including loaders, excavators, compactors, tracked loaders and heavy rigid trucks. You are confident working in compliance-driven environments and bring a strong understanding of safe work practices.
You have the ability to read, interpret and work from programs, procedures and manuals, ensuring tasks are carried out accurately and in line with operational and safety standards.
A proactive and reliable team member, you take pride in your work, adapt to changing priorities and contribute positively to a safe, efficient and high-performing workplace.
