About the Civil Engineer - Waste role

With a strong and growing pipeline of work across the country, Tonkin is now seeking a Civil Engineer with relevant civil or geotechnical engineering experience in either the waste infrastructure, mining or similar industries. As a trusted industry partner providing tailored waste management solutions, Tonkin has a well-established portfolio of high-profile clients including local government, private sector and industry regulatory bodies. Our Civil Engineer in the Waste team will generally be responsible for:

  • Development of engineering solutions for waste management infrastructure projects;
  • Supporting project management and delivery of waste infrastructure and related projects;
  • Engineering input into waste management infrastructure and design projects; 
  • Contribute to tenders, proposals and business development activities;
  • Build industry knowledge and maintain compliance with all current statutory requirements, engineering and contract standards;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders that result in excellence of solution delivery and ongoing collaborations.

Our new Waste Engineer will ideally be based at our state of the art head office in Adelaide. However, with a commitment to workplace flexibility and nurturing our national presence in this sector, we also welcome expressions of interest from suitable interstate applicants. 

The position represents a rare and exciting opportunity for someone with experience in the industry, or a confident Engineer with relevant experience who is keen to grow their expertise in Waste engineering. This is the ideal position for someone who is committed and passionate about furthering their career in the waste management sector and would like to join a high performing team who are recognised for technical excellence, finding creative and progressive ways to deliver value for our clients, and putting a values based human touch into crafting waste management solutions that have wide reaching impact.



Requirements

About you

Together with your exemplary teamwork, leadership, written and verbal communication skills; to be successful in this role you will ideally possess:

  • Engineering design experience in either the waste industry or relevant civil infrastructure projects;
  • Strong working knowledge of current statutory requirements, engineering and contract standards;
  • A recognised Degree in Civil/Environmental/Geotechnical Engineering; 
  • Project delivery experience and stakeholder management capability.
