The Role
Our ALS Hydrographic’s team have an excellent career opportunity as a full-time Wastewater Technician in our below ground team located in Scoresby, Victoria.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be working in a small, close-knit team to support multiple clients with their wastewater testing needs across varied locations.
You may have proven experience in a similar role or eager to venture your career in this specialised and necessary field. The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training in the technical components, procedures, and processes both onsite and offsite.
This is a great opportunity for you if you’re naturally handy and technically minded, have a strong dedicated teamwork approach, show initiative, and are reliable.
Standard hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:00AM-4:00PM. The ability to be flexible in your structured shifts is necessary to meet client and safety requirements. This can include very early starts or weekend shifts.
You will need to be physically fit and have the ability to work in confined, underground spaces in vast weather conditions. You will be requested to complete health & safety screening assessments – drug & alcohol testing and medical testing. We also require a manual driver’s licence with ability to obtain medium rigid licence.
The Day-to-Day Responsibilities Includes:
Supporting the Crew Leader in preparing equipment and resources to complete field calibration and maintenance runs.
Cleaning and calibration of sewer flow monitors.
Supporting in the sampling of Wastewater for health surveillance programs.
Assisting in the upgrade of old, and installation of new sewer flow monitoring sites.
Accurate Record keeping including field notes, photographs, and maps.
Other project work as required.
Essential Requirements - The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
You must be able to work in confined spaces, underground.
Ability to perform manual handling tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong team player, who is reliable and shows initiative.
Physically fit with a desire to work in a hands-on environment.
Manual drivers licence with ability to obtain medium rigid licence.
Willingness to work in a confined space environment.
Good working knowledge of HSE principles and practices.
Prior experience in the use of hand and power tools or willingness to be taught.
