About the role
Lead a high-performing team within the Waste and Resource Recovery (WRR) Business Unit to deliver strategic projects and policy advice that shape Tasmania’s circular economy. This role plays a key part in supporting the objectives of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy and advising the WRR Board on future directions, investment priorities, and legislative matters.
- Oversee complex, high-profile projects that support Tasmania’s waste recovery goals.
- Manage relationships with industry, community stakeholders and government.
- Guide and develop a collaborative team culture focused on innovation and impact.
- Lead policy development and strategic planning aligned with legislative priorities.
- Influence statewide environmental outcomes through cross-sector engagement and leadership.
Our ideal candidate has
- Proven ability to use initiative to lead teams and deliver complex projects aligned with government priorities.
- Waste sector knowledge and a solid understanding of waste and resource recovery legislation, regulation, and strategy.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work across government, industry and community sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in managing timelines, risks, and reporting for high-level initiatives.
- Ability to evaluate complex issues, integrate insights, and develop innovative policy solutions.
