This is a Waste And Recycling Team Member role which does not have any licence requirements but it would be beneficial to have a loader or backhoe qualification.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify and recover items suitable for resale and recycling from customer waste loads and waste transfer bays.
• Assist with the stocking and set up of the Recycling Market.
• Assist Recycling Market and Transfer Station customers with item location, pricing and collection.
• Dismantle, separate and sort recyclable items for resale and recycling.
• Load and transport containers, cages, trailers and truck trays.
• Remove litter from site grounds.
• Maintain site landscaping and bushland areas.
• Install and maintain site machinery, equipment and infrastructure (such as pumps, tanks, pipes, roads, drains, sheds, etc).
• Operate small plant and equipment.
• Monitor, control and direct site traffic and customers.
• Undertake any other duties as are reasonably within the limits of the employee's skills, competence and training.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Demonstrated ability to read signs and documents including safety signs, operating procedures and manuals and a demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
2. Demonstrated ability to undertake and cope with physical labour.
3. Well-developed customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate with people at all levels and make prompt and reliable decisions within the bounds of allocated responsibility.
4. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in the operation and maintenance of small plant and equipment.
6. A general understanding of the principles of recycling and previous experience in dealing with second hand goods and assessing their market value would be highly regarded.
7. Possess a current driver’s licence. Possession of a current forklift licence and/or other heavy machinery licence would be advantageous.
REQUIREMENTS
• Current manual ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
• Applicants must undergo a pre-employment funcitional assesment and be assessed as medically fit to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position. As the work environmental frequently involves areas as “at risk” work areas, appointees will be required to undergo mandatory Immunisation or provide medical documentary evidence of suitable Immunisation.
• Permanent employees appointed to this position will be required to work on a 9 day fortnight basis. To accommodate LWS need to provide a 7 day per week service, this role may involve working Sunday- Thursday, Monday- Friday or Tuesday - Saturday work rosters.
• Casual employees may be employed to work weekends to accommodate the operation of the Logan Recycle Market.
MUST be available to work across a 7 day roster!
